Shri S Vineeth IAS (Tamil Nadu 2013) has been appointed as Private Secretary to the Minister of Education (Shri Dharmendra Pradhan) in the Ministry of Education (level of Deputy Secretary) for a period of five year.

He completed his M.B.B.S. from the University of Kerala, specializing in Medical Sciences and Surgery, both with Second Division. His grounding in medicine has significantly influenced his administrative approach, particularly in the health and public welfare sectors, where evidence-based decision-making and systemic efficiency are critical.
Expanding his academic horizons beyond medicine, he obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Health Management from Anna University, equipping himself with managerial skills specific to healthcare systems. Demonstrating a keen interest in technology and spatial analytics, he also earned a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Geo Informatics from the prestigious College of Engineering, Guindy, under Anna University, securing Grade ‘A’. This multidisciplinary educational background has enabled him to approach governance challenges with innovative and data-driven solutions. Additionally, he attended a certification course in Project Management at IIM Ahmedabad, further strengthening his leadership and execution capabilities.
Shri Vineeth joined the IAS in 2013 and underwent foundational training until August 2015. His early exposure included a stint as Assistant Secretary at the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), New Delhi, where he gained insights into infrastructure development and national-level policy implementation.
His field-level administrative career began as Sub Collector in Dindigul district (2015–2017), where he handled land revenue administration and sub-divisional governance. His tenure was marked by grassroots engagement and effective handling of district-level challenges, laying a strong foundation for his future leadership roles.
He then served as Managing Director in the MSME sector in the Nilgiris (2017–2019), where he contributed to industrial development and support for small and medium enterprises. His work in this role focused on enhancing productivity, promoting local industries, and facilitating economic growth in the region.
From 2019 to 2021, Shri Vineeth held the position of Joint Managing Director in the Energy Department, Chennai. During this period, he was involved in critical aspects of energy management, policy execution, and operational efficiency in the power sector—an area crucial for the state’s economic development.
His appointment as District Collector of Tiruppur (2021–2023) marked a significant phase in his career. As the chief administrative and revenue officer of the district, he managed diverse responsibilities ranging from disaster management to land acquisition and district governance. His tenure was characterized by proactive governance, effective crisis management, and citizen-centric initiatives.
In May 2023, he was appointed Managing Director in the Milk Development Department under the Chennai Corporation, where he oversaw operations related to dairy development and agricultural cooperation. His leadership contributed to strengthening supply chains, improving productivity, and supporting rural livelihoods.
In early 2025, Shri Vineeth briefly served as Joint Secretary in the Health & Family Welfare Department, focusing on Ayurveda, and simultaneously as Project Director of the Tamil Nadu Health Systems Project. These roles leveraged his medical background and administrative expertise, allowing him to contribute meaningfully to healthcare delivery systems and policy implementation in the state.
