Smt. Neha Sharma, a distinguished officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) from the 2010 batch, Uttar Pradesh cadre, has been appointed as the Incharge Inspector General (IG) in the Stamp and Registration Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh. She was previously serving as the District Magistrate and Collector of Gonda, where she led with integrity and administrative effectiveness.
Academically accomplished, Smt. Neha Sharma holds a B.A. (Honours) in Geography from the prestigious Miranda House, University of Delhi, where she graduated with First Division. She further pursued a Master’s degree in Geography from the Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi, again earning First Division. Her strong academic foundation in geography and development studies informs her holistic approach to governance and spatial planning.
Her career in public service reflects a dynamic mix of experience in field administration, urban governance, and public institutional management. As District Magistrate of Gonda, she handled complex challenges relating to law and order, revenue management, and citizen welfare programs with poise and professionalism.
Earlier, Smt. Sharma served in the Noida Authority as Additional CEO, where she contributed to urban planning, infrastructure development, and civic administration in one of India’s fastest-growing urban hubs. Her tenure was marked by transparent governance and efforts to streamline service delivery.
She also held the post of Director in the Local Bodies Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh, overseeing urban local governance mechanisms and capacity building of municipal institutions. Her administrative insight and collaborative working style were instrumental in pushing reforms within urban governance systems.
With experience across both grassroots and policy levels, she brings a well-rounded perspective to her new assignment as Inspector General (Registration). Her mandate will include strengthening institutional efficiency, modernizing registration processes, enhancing revenue realization, and improving citizen interface through digital platforms in the Stamp and Registration Department.
