Dyutiman Bhattacharya IPS appointed DCP – South, Barrackpore Police Commissionerate
Shri Dyutiman Bhattacharya IPS (West Bengal 2011), presently Commanding Officer (CO), SAP 3rd Battalion, is transferred and appointed as DCP – South, Barrackpore Police Commissionerate.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) – South in the Barrackpore Police Commissionerate holds a crucial leadership position responsible for maintaining law and order, crime control, and public safety across the southern division of the Commissionerate. The jurisdiction covers key urban and semi-urban pockets within North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, an area known for dense population, industrial units, and sensitive law-and-order dynamics.
The DCP – South supervises Assistant Commissioners of Police and multiple police stations, ensuring effective investigation, preventive policing, and intelligence coordination. The officer regularly reviews crime trends, monitors serious and organized crime cases, and formulates strategies to curb offenses such as narcotics trafficking, property crimes, and communal disturbances.
Given the region’s proximity to major transit corridors and industrial zones, the DCP plays a vital role in traffic regulation, crowd management during festivals and political events, and security arrangements for VIP movements. Close coordination with civil administration and other enforcement agencies is essential for disaster response and emergency management.
Administrative responsibilities include personnel management, disciplinary oversight, and implementation of state-level policing directives. Through proactive policing, community outreach initiatives, and technology-driven surveillance, the DCP – South ensures efficient service delivery and strengthens public confidence within the Barrackpore Police Commissionerate.
Indian Bureaucracy Network wishes Shri Dyutiman Bhattacharya the very best.
