Sujeet Kumar IAS empanelled as Joint Secretary
Shri Sujeet Kumar IAS (Gujarat 2010) has been empanelled as Joint Secretary at the Centre.
Shri Sujeet Kumar, IAS is a distinguished civil servant known for his strong academic credentials in geography and diverse administrative experience spanning district governance and high-level central assignments.
He completed his B.A. in Geography with First position from Patna College under Patna University. He then pursued his M.A. in Geography (First position) and M.Phil. in Geography (First position) from the Department of Geography, University of Delhi. His academic specialization in geography has provided him with a deep understanding of spatial planning, regional development, and resource management—skills highly relevant to public administration.
At the central level, Shri Kumar served as Private Secretary to the Vice President of India (Deputy Secretary Equivalent) in the Vice President’s Secretariat from October 21, 2022 to July 24, 2024. In this role, he assisted in high-level coordination, policy support, and administrative management within one of the highest constitutional offices of the country.
Earlier, he served as Private Secretary to the Minister (Deputy Secretary level) in the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways from July 25, 2019 to October 20, 2022. His responsibilities included ministerial coordination, policy tracking, and executive support in matters related to maritime infrastructure, shipping policy, and port-led development.
At the state level, Shri Kumar has held several key field postings. He served as District Collector (May 1, 2017 – July 18, 2019), overseeing land revenue administration, district development programs, and law and order management. Prior to that, he worked as District Development Officer in Amreli under the Urban Development Authority (February 18, 2014 – April 30, 2017), contributing to urban planning and development initiatives.
His early career includes postings as Assistant Collector and Supernumerary Assistant Collector in Banaskantha and Panchmahals districts (2010–2014), where he gained foundational experience in sub-divisional administration and land revenue management.
Throughout his career, Shri Sujeet Kumar has combined academic excellence with administrative versatility—serving effectively in both grassroots governance and senior central secretariat roles. His professional journey reflects the evolving responsibilities within the Indian Bureaucracy, where field experience and policy coordination at the national level converge to strengthen public institutions and governance delivery.
