Abhishek Yadav IPS appointed SDPO – Bongaon, West Bengal
Shri Abhishek Yadav IPS (West Bengal 2021), presently Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Khatra, Bankura, is transferred and appointed as SDPO – Bongaon, Bongaon Police District.
The Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) – Bongaon plays a pivotal role in maintaining law and order in the Bongaon subdivision under the Bongaon Police District of West Bengal Police. Strategically located along the Indo-Bangladesh international border, Bongaon is a sensitive jurisdiction requiring vigilant policing, intelligence coordination, and community engagement.
The SDPO supervises multiple police stations within the subdivision and is responsible for crime prevention, investigation monitoring, traffic regulation, and coordination with border security agencies. Given Bongaon’s proximity to the international boundary, issues such as cross-border smuggling, human trafficking, and illegal infiltration require constant surveillance and inter-agency cooperation. The officer also ensures effective implementation of state and central government directives, disaster response preparedness, and maintenance of communal harmony.
Apart from operational duties, the SDPO leads public outreach initiatives, strengthens beat policing systems, and promotes citizen-friendly policing practices. Regular law-and-order reviews, crime meetings, and coordination with civil administration form a key part of the role.
The position demands administrative acumen, quick decision-making, and strong leadership, as the SDPO acts as a crucial link between senior district leadership and grassroots-level policing, ensuring safety, security, and public confidence in the region.
Indian Bureaucracy Network wishes Shri Abhishek Yadav the very best.
