Shri Ankit Kumar Agrawal IAS (Uttar Pradesh 2012) has been appointed as Director in the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, Delhi under the Central Staffing Scheme for a period of five years.
Shri Ankit Kumar Agrawal, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, has built a distinguished career marked by administrative depth, policy expertise, and impactful grassroots governance. An engineering graduate, he completed his B.E. in Electronics and Communication from Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology and later pursued B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, reflecting a strong academic foundation before entering public service.
Since joining the IAS in 2012, Agrawal has served across diverse sectors in Uttar Pradesh, gaining extensive experience in district administration, rural development, infrastructure, and policy planning. His early training at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration laid the groundwork for a career defined by professionalism and public-oriented governance. Initial assignments as Assistant Collector and Joint Magistrate in districts like Lakhimpur Kheri and Varanasi helped him develop a firm understanding of land revenue management and sub-divisional administration.
Agrawal’s tenure as Chief Development Officer in Muzaffarnagar (2016–2018) was marked by a focus on rural development initiatives, strengthening local governance systems and implementing welfare schemes effectively. He subsequently moved to the Infrastructure and Industrial Development Department in Lucknow as Special Secretary, contributing to industrial policy formulation and investment promotion in the state.
In 2019, he took on dual responsibilities in governance and planning, serving as District Magistrate of Sonbhadra and later as Special Secretary in the Planning Department. His work in policy planning and program implementation highlighted his ability to bridge field-level insights with strategic governance. He further strengthened urban governance as Vice Chairman of the Development Authority in Prayagraj, overseeing urban planning and infrastructure expansion.
Agrawal served as District Magistrate of Etah (2021–2023) and Bijnor (2023–2025), where he led district administration, managed law and order, and drove development programs. His tenure in these districts was characterized by efficient land revenue management, improved public service delivery, and focused developmental administration.
Most recently, he served as Director in the Minority Welfare & Muslim Waqf Department, Lucknow (2025–2026), where he handled social justice and minority welfare initiatives, reflecting his versatility in governance across sectors.
With over a decade of administrative experience, Shri Ankit Kumar Agrawal exemplifies dynamic leadership, combining technical knowledge with governance acumen. His career reflects a consistent commitment to public service, policy innovation, and inclusive development, aligning with the evolving priorities of governance in India.
