Vivek Joshi chairs meeting with Punjab, Haryana & Chandigarh on Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Scheme

Secretary, Department of Financial Services (DFS), Union Ministry of Finance, Dr. Vivek Joshi, chaired two meetings at the Regional Office NABARD, Chandigarh regarding the speedy implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Scheme. The meetings involved officials from the Governments of Punjab and Haryana & UT of Chandigarh, along with representatives from the Union Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), and banks.

Dr. Joshi highlighted that the PM Vishwakarma Scheme aims to provide comprehensive support to traditional artists and craftspeople engaged in 18 identified trades, covering skill training, collateral-free credit, modern tools, market linkage support, and incentives for digital transactions. The scheme aligns with the Prime Minister’s vision of inclusive development.

The Secretary urged State Government officials to ensure smooth enrollment of beneficiaries, quick verification, and registration to facilitate the timely delivery of benefits under the scheme. The emphasis is on transforming traditional artists and craftspeople into entrepreneurs. During the meetings, detailed presentations were delivered by MSME, MSDE, RDSDE, and DFS, along with SIDBI, providing insights into the PM Vishwakarma scheme and updates on its implementation progress.
