Smt T L Alamelu presently Chairman, Agriculture Insurance Company (AIC), has been appointed as whole-time Member, Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI), incharge of non-life insurance by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet. First woman to head AIC, Alamelu will be third whole-time woman member of IRDAI. Ms. T L Alamelu has been General Manager of United India Insurance Co. Ltd. since October 29, 2012. Mrs. Alamelu has been General Manager of The New India Assurance Co. Ltd. since October 13, 2016. She served as Manager of Reinsurance (Admn) of New India Assurance Co. Ltd. She served as Deputy General Manager of United India Insurance Co. Ltd. She has been a Director of The New India Assurance Co. Ltd. since October 13, 2016.
