#SwachhataHiSeva2023: A Celebration of Cleanliness! – The nation is in the midst of the Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2023 campaign, themed ‘Garbage-Free India’. Over the last 14 days, a staggering 32 crore individuals have actively participated, reflecting an average of 2.3 crore participants daily. This united effort, inspired by PM Narendra Modi’s call for cleanliness, has yielded remarkable results.

The campaign has led to the declaration of 75% of India’s villages as ODF Plus, maintaining Open Defecation Free status while ensuring solid or liquid waste management. It showcases the unwavering commitment of communities and the Government towards sanitation and cleanliness.

Key accomplishments include cleaning of beaches, riverbanks, legacy waste sites, tourist destinations, and public spaces. Additionally, water bodies, institutional buildings, and garbage-vulnerable sites have been revitalized. This reflects the power of collective action.

The campaign’s finale on October 1st, with the call for ‘Ek Tareekh Ek Ghanta Ek Saath’, will see the entire nation engaged in a cleanliness drive at 10 AM, emphasizing the significance of cleanliness in all aspects of society. Noteworthy is the joint launch of the SHS Campaign by three Union Ministers, symbolizing unified efforts towards a ‘Swachh Bharat’. Within a week, the Union Minister for Jal Shakti announced the achievement of 75% ODF Plus villages nationwide.

This Whole of Government approach, complemented by initiatives from various departments, underscores the collective commitment to a ‘Swachh Bharat’. Health check-ups and yoga sessions are organized for sanitation workers, and communities, women’s SHGs, youth, senior citizens, and religious leaders are actively involved.

Mass mobilization activities include Swachhata Pledge, runs, and human chains, further strengthening the spirit of voluntarism and community participation. The SHS 2023 campaign attests to the transformative potential when individuals, communities, and government agencies unite for a common cause, exemplifying the true essence of ‘Team India’. It’s a testament to the power of collective action towards a cleaner, healthier nation. #SwachhBharatMission #CleanIndia #JanAndolan #GarbageFreeIndia #SwachhataHiSeva #TeamIndia
