The position of Managing Director of the H.P. State Handicrafts & Handloom Corporation, Shimla, carries important responsibility for promoting, developing and strengthening the traditional handicrafts and handloom sector of Himachal Pradesh. The Corporation plays a significant role in supporting artisans, preserving the State’s rich cultural heritage and creating sustainable opportunities for traditional crafts and handloom products.
The Managing Director provides administrative and strategic leadership to the organisation and oversees its overall functioning. The role involves coordinating programmes related to the production, promotion, marketing and sale of handicrafts and handloom products made by artisans and craftspeople across the State.
Himachal Pradesh has a diverse tradition of weaving, embroidery, woodcraft, metalwork and other traditional crafts.
