Shri Sudheer Kumar Neelakantam IPS (West Bengal 2007), presently DIG- Raiganj Range, has been transferred and posted as DIG- Murshidabad Range, West Bengal.
The Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) – Murshidabad Range is a senior Indian Police Service officer responsible for overseeing law enforcement and police administration across the Murshidabad Range under the West Bengal Police. The range, which includes districts such as Murshidabad, Nadia, and surrounding areas, presents unique challenges due to its dense population, cultural diversity, and proximity to international borders.
The DIG provides strategic leadership to the Superintendents of Police, ensuring effective crime prevention, coordination of major investigations, and maintenance of public order. The role also entails close collaboration with civil authorities, intelligence agencies, and community stakeholders to address sensitive law and order situations, support traffic management, and plan responses during festivals, elections, and emergencies. By directing operations, promoting community policing, and implementing state policy priorities at the range level, the DIG – Murshidabad Range plays a key role in enhancing safety, security, and public confidence throughout the region.
