Abhijeet Kaplish IAS appointed Chief Executive – PEDA, Punjab
Shri Abhijeet Kaplish IAS (Punjab 2015), presently Director, Mines and Geology, Punjab, with additional charge of Chief Executive, Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA), under the Department of New and Renewable Energy Sources, has been relieved of his charge as Director, Mines and Geology, and appointed as Chief Executive – Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA).
An officer of the 2015 batch of the Indian Administrative Service, Shri Abhijeet Kaplish has served in important administrative assignments in the Government of Punjab. His present responsibilities have included the leadership of the Mines and Geology Department, along with the additional charge of the Punjab Energy Development Agency.
With the latest order, Shri Kaplish will now serve as the full-time Chief Executive of PEDA. The agency is associated with the promotion and development of renewable and non-conventional sources of energy in Punjab and plays an important role in supporting the state’s energy transition and sustainable development objectives.
His experience of handling the additional charge of PEDA is expected to provide continuity in the administration of the agency. The new assignment will involve coordination with government departments, energy agencies and other stakeholders for the implementation of programmes related to renewable energy and energy efficiency.
The posting places Shri Kaplish in charge of an important area of public policy at a time when renewable energy and sustainable development have assumed increasing importance in governance. His administrative experience and familiarity with the functioning of PEDA will be valuable in carrying forward the agency’s responsibilities.
The latest order also provides for a clear distribution of responsibilities in the Punjab Government, with Shri Kaplish now focusing on PEDA.
