Shri Shelesh Nawal IAS (Maharashtra 2010) has been empanelled as Joint Secretary at the Centre.

Shri Shelesh Nawal, IAS is a distinguished officer of the Indian Administrative Service, widely recognized for his academic excellence in economics and his extensive experience in district administration and civil services training. His career reflects the intellectual depth and administrative versatility that define the Indian Bureaucracy, particularly in the areas of land revenue management, rural development, and personnel training.

An accomplished scholar, Shri Nawal completed his Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Economics from Shri Ram College of Commerce, under University of Delhi, securing First position. He further strengthened his academic credentials with a Master of Arts in Economics from the prestigious Delhi School of Economics, also under the University of Delhi, where he again secured First Class. His strong grounding in economic theory and public finance has significantly informed his administrative approach, particularly in revenue administration and district governance.

Shri Nawal began his civil services journey in Maharashtra, serving in key field positions that shaped his administrative acumen. As Assistant District Collector (ADC) in Thane, he gained firsthand exposure to land revenue management and district administration. He later served as ADC-cum-Chief Executive Officer in the Department of Panchayat & Rural Development in Ahmednagar, where he contributed to rural development initiatives and the strengthening of Panchayati Raj institutions.

His leadership responsibilities expanded when he was appointed District Collector and District Magistrate of Wardha (2016–2019). In this role, he oversaw land revenue administration, consolidation efforts, and district-level implementation of development schemes. He subsequently served as District Collector and District Magistrate of Amravati (2019–2021), where he managed complex administrative challenges, including revenue management, law and order coordination, and inter-departmental governance.

In August 2021, he briefly held the position of Deputy Secretary in the General Administration Department, Mumbai, focusing on human resource development within the state administration. Shortly thereafter, he was appointed Deputy Director at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) under the Department of Personnel & Training, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Government of India. From September 2021 to August 2025, Shri Nawal served as Deputy Director at LBSNAA, contributing to curriculum development, training design, and mentoring of officer trainees.
