Shri Shashank Mani Tripathi IAS (AGMUT 2015) presently Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs under the Central Staffing Scheme has been appointed as Officer on Special Duty to the Minister for Home Affairs (Shri Amit Shah) in the M/o Home Affairs (Deputy Secretary Level) upto 30.08.2028 (i.e. for the balance period of his four years central deputation tenure) or on co-terminus basis with the Minister or till he ceases to function as Officer on Special Duty to the Minister.
Shri Shashank Mani Tripathi is an accomplished and dedicated officer of the Indian Administrative Service, known for his administrative acumen and commitment to public service. He is presently serving as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Minister for Home Affairs, bringing to the role a wealth of experience from diverse administrative assignments across the Central Government, Union Territories, and State administrations. Prior to this, he served as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs under the Central Staffing Scheme, where he was involved in key policy and coordination matters pertaining to internal security and governance.
A 2015 batch officer, Shri Tripathi is an alumnus of Uttar Pradesh Technical University, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with distinction. He further enhanced his academic credentials with a Master’s degree in Public Management and Policy from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, achieving first-class results. His strong academic foundation has been instrumental in shaping his analytical and policy formulation skills, which are reflected in his professional conduct and decision-making.
Over the years, Shri Tripathi has held several significant positions demonstrating his versatility and leadership in governance. He has served as District Magistrate and Collector in Arunachal Pradesh, where he effectively managed land revenue administration, law and order, and developmental initiatives. His tenure as Secretary to the Government of the Union Territory of Lakshadweep was marked by his contribution to financial management and administrative reforms. Earlier, as Commissioner of Excise, Government of Goa, he was credited with improving regulatory efficiency and streamlining excise operations. He also served as Director of the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, and as Municipal Commissioner, North Goa, where he worked towards strengthening local self-government and urban management systems.
At the Central level, Shri Tripathi has served in the Ministries of Mines, Cooperation, and Housing, gaining wide exposure to sectors like industrial production, cooperative development, and natural resource management. His cross-sectoral experience, coupled with a proactive and reform-oriented outlook, has made him a capable and dependable officer in the civil services.
