Shri Sanjay Jaju IAS (Telangana 1992) presently Secretary- Ministry of Information & Broadcasting has been appointed as Secretary- Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region.

Shri Sanjay Jaju, a senior Indian Administrative Service officer, stands out for his diverse academic grounding and extensive administrative experience across critical sectors such as defence production, infrastructure, information technology, and public communication. His career reflects a thoughtful blend of technical expertise, financial insight, and governance capability—hallmarks of the evolving Indian Bureaucracy.

Academically, Shri Jaju brings together a strong foundation in engineering, management, and finance. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering, followed by an M.Tech. in Technology. He further enhanced his managerial acumen with a postgraduate diploma in management from University of Manchester. His academic profile is further strengthened by professional qualification in cost accounting (ICWA), where he secured first position, demonstrating early excellence in financial disciplines. He also completed an MBA in Finance from Indira Gandhi National Open University, graduating with distinction. This multi-layered educational background has enabled him to navigate complex administrative and financial challenges with notable ease.

Shri Jaju began his administrative journey with grassroots assignments, including his role as Sub-Collector in Vijayawada. He went on to serve in key urban governance roles such as Commissioner in Visakhapatnam and later as Municipal Commissioner in Hyderabad. These assignments provided him with hands-on experience in urban administration, civic infrastructure, and public service delivery, helping him build a strong foundation in governance at the city level.

His tenure as District Collector and District Magistrate of West Godavari marked an important phase in his career, where he dealt with a broad spectrum of administrative responsibilities ranging from law and order to development administration. His ability to manage diverse challenges at the district level contributed to his steady rise in administrative leadership.

Shri Jaju’s experience in infrastructure and urban development was further deepened during his time with the Infrastructure Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (INCAP), where he served as Vice Chairman and Managing Director. In this role, he was involved in planning and executing infrastructure projects, demonstrating a pragmatic approach to development and investment facilitation.

At the state level, he also held important positions such as Commissioner in Civil Supplies and in the Irrigation & Command Area Development Department. These roles required careful handling of resource management, public distribution systems, and water management—areas critical to economic and social stability.

Transitioning to the Government of India, Shri Jaju served in the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, including his association with the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited. His tenure here further strengthened his credentials in infrastructure development, particularly in executing projects in challenging and strategic regions.

A significant phase of his central deputation was in the Ministry of Defence, where he served as Joint Secretary and later as Additional Secretary in the Department of Defence Production. In these roles, he contributed to policy formulation and implementation in a sector that is both strategically vital and technologically intensive. His background in engineering and finance proved particularly valuable in navigating the complexities of defence manufacturing and procurement.

Currently serving as Secretary in the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, Shri Sanjay Jaju is at the helm of a ministry that plays a crucial role in shaping public communication, media regulation, and dissemination of information.
