Smt. S Usha Chief General Manager at GRID-India, had made history by becoming the first-ever woman to lead the National Load Despatch Centre (NLDC). She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Calicut University and brings with her over three decades of experience in power system operations and electricity market management. Throughout her distinguished career, she has served in key roles across the Southern and Western Regional Load Despatch Centres, contributing significantly to grid reliability and operational excellence. Her appointment marks a milestone in India’s power sector, highlighting leadership, expertise, and the growing role of women in energy management.
Grid-India, officially known as Grid Controller of India Limited, is a public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Power, Government of India. Incorporated in 2009 (formerly Power System Operation Corporation Limited or POSOCO), it is responsible for the integrated operation of the national electricity grid, ensuring reliable and secure power supply across regions.
