Shri R. Vikraman, Director/HR, NLCIL while addressing participants of the NLCIL Inter Unit Sports and Games and school children during the Prize Distribution function held on , 23.08.19, emphasized the need for daily exercise which will help in keeping the body and mind healthy always.
The Inter Unit Sports and Games were inaugurated in April, 2019 and competitions in 12 sports events including Badminton, Basketball, Cricket, Football, Hockey, Kabaddi, Volleyball, Tennis, Table Tennis and Carrom were conducted. Athletic Events like Running (100 mts, 200 mts, 400 mts, 800 mts, 1500 mts, Long Jump, High Jump, Pole Vault, Discus and Hammer Throw etc.) were conducted for men and women. NLCIL Units were grouped into six teams – Administration, Mine-I, Mine-II, TPS-I, TPS-II and NSU (Services). The above events concluded on 27th June, 2019.
During the prize distribution function held yesterday, the final round of “Tug of War” between the Administration team and the TPS-I team was held in the presence of Chief Guests and senior officers. Shri R. Vikraman, Director/HR, NLCIL participated as the Chief Guest and distributed prizes to the winners. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest indicated that in the present era, where the addiction to social media has made people lazy, sports activities would refresh the body and mind. He appreciated the veteran sportsmen and women of NLCIL for enthusiastically participating in the sports competitions and appealed to the young employees to participate in sports activities in large numbers. He made a fervent appeal to everyone to invest at least one hour per day to maintain good health and sound mind.
He recalled the meeting organised by the Sports Development Centre (SDC) of NLCIL for the NLCIL employees to improve the sports activities in the company. He impressed the Sports Development Centre authorities to follow the decisions finalized in the meeting.
The prizes to the winners of the Inter School Sports Meet conducted for the academic year 2018-19, in which 2000 boys and girls from about 20 schools in Neyveli participated, were distributed by Shri R. Vikraman, Director/HR, NLCIL during the occasion.
Shri S. Vinayagamoorthy, GM/Education & Sports, welcomed the gathering. Shri K. Ramesh, DGM/Sports compered the programme. Shri Hemant Kumar, ED/Mines, Shri R. Mohan, CGM/CSR, Education & Sports, CGMs and GMs besides a large number of employees participated in the programme
Prior to the function, Shri R. Vikraman, Director/HR, NLCIL inaugurated a glittering “Trophies Gallery” containing Trophies, Cups and Awards won by NLCIL sportspersons and students of Neyveli Township. The Gallery will serve to display the sporting accomplishments to the present day sportspersons, inspiring them to scale greater achievements.
