NLC India celebrates 8th Public Sector Week

To showcase the contribution extended by the Public Sector Organisations in nation-building and social progress, NLC India Limited  celebrates  8th Public Sector Week from 11th to 15th April, 2017, under the aegis of Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE), an apex body for Central Government owned Public Enterprises/Public Sector Undertakings,

NLCIL observed the  8th ‘Public Sector Day’ in a function organized at Corporate Office premises, Neyveli, on 11.04.2017, wherein Shri Rakesh Kumar; Director (Finance), Chief Guest, hoisted the Public Sector Flag. Shri Syed Abdul Fateh Khalid,ED/Mines, presided over the function.

Dr. Sarat Kumar Acharya, CMD,NLC IL in his absence sent his Public Sector Day Message which was read by  Shri N.Muthu ED/HR .

In his special message CMD, NLC I stressed on the exemplary role played by Public Sectors in propelling the economic growth of the nation.  He reinforced the fact that a “Can Do” spirit and dedicated efforts of employees will surely take organizations from the level of  “Wealth to Well being”. He congratulated NLCI employees for their impressive performance for the FY 2016-17 which resulted in record breaking results in all fronts.  He reinstated that NLCIL was making continuous efforts in the fields of Swachh Bharath, Skill India, and Cashless Transactions to realise the nation’s mission.

Shri Rakesh Kumar, Director (Finance) in his speech said Public Sectors are the back bone of the country which are playing dual role by giving employment directly or indirectly to lakhs of people and taking Social welfare programmes to the lowest level of masses without aspiring for profitability.  He said PSU’s are playing a major role in the nation’s growth by maintaining economic pace. He informed that in our nation around 12 Lakh people were employed through 320 CPSU’s.

During this week long celebrations,  for effective dissemination of information about the activities of  NLC IL and to showcase its CSR & Swachh Bharath activities, an exhibition is  being organised  for the  general public   from April 11th to 16th, 2017 from  3 PM to 6 PM at Lignite Hall, Neyveli. In addition to this, a week long Skill Development Workshop for school children and various competitions like quiz Employees are also being organised.

Also, a Campaigning Mobile Van  for peripheral villages is organised  by depicting the  CSR initiatives  and Trainings offered under  Skill Development & Women Empowerment  has been organized for the benefit of the people in peripheral villages to create awareness and to make them enroll in these trainings.

Shri N. Sankar, CGM/HR welcomed the gathering while Shri C. Thiagaraju, CGM/HR rendered vote of thanks. Senior officials, Employees, representatives of Trade Unions and welfare associations participated in the event.
