Mukund HCS appointed MD- Cooperative Sugar Mills, Meham, Haryana
Shri Mukund HCS (2020) presently awaiting posting has been appointed as Managing
Director- Cooperative Sugar Mills, Meham, Haryana, relieving Shri Vipin Kumar HCS (2023) of the said charge.
Cooperative Sugar Mills, Meham, located in Rohtak district of Haryana, holds an important place in the state’s cooperative and agro-industrial landscape. Established with the objective of supporting sugarcane farmers through cooperative participation, the mill has played a steady role in strengthening rural livelihoods and promoting agricultural sustainability in the region.
The mill primarily serves sugarcane growers from Rohtak and adjoining areas, offering them an assured market for their produce. By operating under the cooperative model, it ensures that farmers are not merely suppliers but stakeholders in the system, benefiting from transparent procurement mechanisms and timely payments. This structure has helped build trust among cane growers and has contributed to stabilising farm incomes over the years.
Cooperative Sugar Mills, Meham, has also been a source of local employment, both direct and indirect. Seasonal operations during the crushing period generate significant job opportunities for skilled and semi-skilled workers, while allied activities such as transportation and ancillary services support the local economy. The mill’s presence has thus had a multiplier effect on rural economic activity.
From an administrative perspective, the mill functions within the broader cooperative framework of Haryana, adhering to policies aimed at improving efficiency, reducing losses, and modernising operations. Like many cooperative sugar units, it has faced challenges such as fluctuating sugar prices, recovery rates, and cane availability. However, periodic efforts toward capacity utilisation, technical upgrades, and better management practices have been central to sustaining operations.
Beyond sugar production, cooperative sugar mills in Haryana, including Meham, are increasingly viewed as potential hubs for diversification into by-products such as molasses, ethanol, and power co-generation. Such initiatives align with national priorities on renewable energy and value addition in agriculture.
Overall, Cooperative Sugar Mills, Meham, continues to represent the cooperative spirit in Haryana’s agrarian economy, balancing farmer interests, industrial operations, and regional development objectives in a challenging but vital sector.
Indian Bureaucracy Dot Com wishes Shri Mukund the very best.
