The ‘Yoga Mahotsav’ took place at the NCC Parade Ground with a massive participation of 50,000 enthusiasts. The event was organized by the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY) under the Ministry of Ayush to commemorate 25 days until the International Day of Yoga.

The Chief Guest for the occasion was Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan, the Hon’ble Governor of Telangana. The event was also attended by Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, the Union Minister of Ayush; Shri G Kishan Reddy, the Union Minister of Culture, Tourism & DoNER; and Dr. Munjpara Mahendrabhai, the Union Minister of State for Ayush. Several dignitaries and celebrities from the city, including Padma Bhushan awardee and noted Badminton player & coach Pullela Gopichand, Srileela, Vishwak Sen, and Krishan Chaitanya, were present at the event.

Dr. Ishwar V Basavaraddi, Director of MDNIY, conducted the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) as thousands of participants performed yoga in a spiritually uplifting atmosphere.

During the event, Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan expressed that Yoga is a festival of happiness and health, urging everyone to embrace it. Shri Sarbananda Sonowal emphasized the global acceptance and impact of Yoga, highlighting its physical, mental, and spiritual benefits. He also mentioned the novelties planned for this year’s International Day of Yoga, including international, national, and local yoga demonstrations.

Shri G Kishan Reddy commended the massive turnout and expressed the importance of Yoga in keeping individuals calm and focused in today’s world. Dr. Munjpara Mahendra emphasized the global recognition of International Day of Yoga and encouraged everyone to keep the spirit of Yoga alive.

The event was attended by various officials from the Ministry of Ayush, including Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha (Secretary) and Kavita Garg (Joint Secretary), as well as other dignitaries, guests, and celebrities such as Naina Jaiswal (Table Tennis player), Eesha Rebba (actress), G Sridhar Rao (Patanjali Yoga Peeth), and Nandanam Krupakar (Joint Secretary, National Yogasana Sports Federation).
