Shri Manish Desai IIS (1989) assumed charge as the Director General West Zone of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in the office of Press Information Bureau, Mumbai. Immediately prior to this he was holding the post of Registrar of Newspapers of India in New Delhi. As DG West Zone, Manish Desai will lead the central government communication set up in the West Zone looking after the functioning of Press Information Bureau (PIB) and Bureau of Outreach Communication (BOC) offices in the states of Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh. An officer of 1989 batch of IIS, Manish Desai during his career spanning nearly three decades has worked in various media units of the Ministry of I&B, like DAVP, AIR News, Prasar Bharati, and the Indian Institute of Mass Communication.
Earlier, Shri Desai had worked for nearly a decade in PIB Mumbai as Director and Addl.Director General looking after government communication. He was also the DG, Films Division during 2016-18.
