Shri Mahesh Kumar Jain presently MD & CEO, IDBI Bank has been appointed as Deputy Governor, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for a term of three years from the date of assumption of Charge. Shri Mahesh Kumar Jain has been Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of IDBI Bank Limited since March 20, 2017. Mr. Jain served as General Manager of Syndicate Bank.

Shri Jain served as the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Indian Bank from November 2, 2015 to March 18, 2017 and served as its Executive Director from September 27, 2013 to March 18, 2017. Since joining Indian Bank, Mr. Jain had made significant contribution towards making Indian Bank ‘s ‘strong and stable’. Under his stewardship, various initiatives and reforms with far reaching positive ramifications were implemented. These efforts culminated in transforming Indian Bank as one of the best performing Public Sector Banks in the country. He is a Professional Banker having more than 30 years experience, served at various positions in Punjab National Bank, Syndicate Bank and Indian Bank across multiple areas that include Corporate & Retail Credit, Risk Management, Credit Monitoring including Corporate Debt Restructuring, Business Process Re-engineering, Treasury & International Banking. Mr. Jain was the Secretary & Coordinator to Basant Seth Committee on Review & Revamp of Internal & Concurrent Audit System in PSBs. He has been a Director at Export-Import Bank of India since July 12, 2017. He has been Director of IDBI Bank Limited since March 20, 2017.
