Smt Laya Madduri IAS (Assam Meghalaya 2010) presently Secretary – Finance Department with additional charge as Managing Director- Assam Financial Corporation is now appointed as Director – Department of Economic Affairs, Delhi .
Smt. Laya Madduri holds a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E. Hons.) in Mechanical Engineering from the renowned Birla Institute of Technology & Science (BITS), Pilani, and a Master’s degree in Public Policy from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). Her strong academic background is matched by her dedication to impactful public service.
Throughout her illustrious career, Smt. Madduri has held several critical administrative and leadership positions across Assam. She began her journey with field-level roles such as Assistant Commissioner in Nagaon, and progressively rose through the ranks, serving as Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) and Additional Deputy Commissioner in Majuli. She later served as Deputy Commissioner in Sonitpur, Dibrugarh, and Cachar, earning accolades for her people-centric approach and administrative competence.
She has also held important policy-level assignments including State Project Director of ARIASP, Deputy Secretary in the Departments of Finance, Science & Technology, and Cultural Affairs, and subsequently as Secretary, Finance Department and Secretary, Science & Technology, Assam. Additionally, she took charge as the Managing Director of Assam Financial Corporation, further contributing to state-level financial governance and institutional development.
In March 2025, she was appointed as Director, Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Government of India, New Delhi, marking a significant milestone in her career.
