Smt Kimnei Changsan IAS (Assam Meghalaya 2014) presently Secretary – Home & Political Department, Assam has been appointed to the Junior Administrative Grade of IAS (Level 12 of Pay Matrix) .
The Secretary of the Home & Political Department, Government of Assam, is a senior administrative officer responsible for overseeing matters related to internal security, law and order, and coordination between the state government and security agencies. The department plays a crucial role in maintaining peace and stability across the state by supervising police administration, intelligence coordination, and public safety measures. The Secretary is involved in policy formulation, monitoring security-related initiatives, and ensuring effective implementation of government decisions concerning policing, disaster response, and emergency management. The role also includes handling political matters related to state administration, coordination with central agencies, and supervision of various wings functioning under the Home Department.
