Justice Shalinder Kaur presently Additional Judge- Delhi High Court has been appointed as Permanent Judge – Delhi High Court.
Justice Shalinder Kaur has an impressive academic and professional journey marked by excellence and dedication. She earned her Bachelor of Arts (Honors) degree from Miranda House College, Delhi University, in 1985, followed by an LL.B. from the Campus Law Centre in the same year. Her pursuit of advanced legal expertise culminated in an LL.M. from Kurukshetra University in 1988.
Her judicial career began in 1992 when she joined the Delhi Judicial Service, progressing to the Delhi Higher Judicial Service in 2003. Throughout her career, Justice Kaur has admirably presided over a wide range of Civil and Criminal Courts. Her assignments have included cases involving the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), sensitive criminal matters, matrimonial disputes, child custody petitions, juvenile justice under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, and motor accident claims. She has served with distinction as District and Sessions Judge across multiple jurisdictions, including Shahdara, Karkardooma, South-East District Saket, and South District Saket Courts in Delhi. Additionally, she has made significant contributions as the Judge In-Charge of various Delhi Mediation Centers.
A trained and accomplished mediator, Justice Kaur completed an intensive 40-hour course on the concepts and techniques of mediation in 2005. She has further honed her skills as a Master Trainer under the Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee of the Supreme Court of India, including undergoing specialized “Training of Trainers” with experts from the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR) in the UK. Her recognition as an Accredited Mediator by the International Mediation Institute in The Hague, Netherlands, reflects her international credentials and expertise. Remarkably, she has conducted mediation in approximately 10,000 cases spanning various categories, demonstrating her exceptional commitment to conflict resolution.
Justice Kaur is also an esteemed speaker at numerous regional, national, and international conferences on mediation. Her leadership in organizing and facilitating training programs for judicial officers, lawyers, and law students across India is widely lauded. As a resource person at the Delhi Judicial Academy and various colleges in Delhi, she has played a pivotal role in promoting legal education and the practice of mediation.
On October 20, 2023, Justice Shalinder Kaur’s career reached another milestone when she was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Delhi High Court, a testament to her vast experience, exemplary service, and unwavering dedication to the judiciary.
