PIB News Update: Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti & Social Justice and Empowerment, Shri Rattan Lal Kataria   has informed that As reported by States/ UTs as on 01.04.2019, country had about 17.87 Crore rural households out of which around 3.27 Crore rural households were with tap connections and around 14.60 Crore rural households were to be provided with tap connections. To enable every rural household in the country to have potable water at service level of 55 litre per capita per day (lpcd) through Functional Household Tap Connection (FHTC) by 2024, Government of India, in partnership with the States, has launched Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).

After the launch of JJM in August 2019, States were advised to roll out the implementation of JJM which inter-aliaincluded water resource management/ augmentation, water supply and grey water management. The Operational Guidelines for the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission has been released on 25.12.2019 and the same is available on the websitehttps://jalshakti-ddws.gov.in/sites/default/files/JJM_Operational_Guidelines.pdf
