According to the notification issued by the DoPT, all promoted officers have been allocated the Uttar Pradesh cadre. The promotion is effective from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025, against vacancies that arose during this period. The officers have been granted the 2022 IAS batch year and will remain on probation for a specified period.

The promotion orders were issued following the recommendations of the Departmental Promotion Committee and subsequent approval by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet. The Uttar Pradesh Appointments and Personnel Department also issued its formal order on June 30, confirming the promotions.

It is noteworthy that Anju Kataria, who was an accused in a paper leak case and had been awaiting promotion, was not included in the list.

The promotion of 29 PCS officers to the IAS cadre is significant for several reasons. The state government had been awaiting these promotions for a considerable period, and the decision addresses the shortage of IAS officers in Uttar Pradesh, enabling smoother administrative functioning across the state. The promoted officers are expected to receive their new postings shortly, allowing them to take on more significant responsibilities.

Promotion of 88 Officers in Uttar Pradesh Finance and Accounts Service

In a separate administrative order, the Uttar Pradesh government has also promoted 88 officers of the Uttar Pradesh Finance and Accounts Service. The Governor of Uttar Pradesh approved the proposal on June 30, 2026, following which the government issued orders for promotions and revised pay scales.

According to the order issued by the Finance (Services) Section-2, officers in Group ‘A’ Senior Pay Scale Category-1 (Grade Pay 7600/Matrix Level 12) have been regularly promoted to Grade Pay 8700/Matrix Level 13. The promotions have been made based on the recommendations of the Departmental Selection Committee. The promoted officers will receive the benefit of the special pay scale while continuing in their current posts.
