The Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA), an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India, recently organized a 3-day training program on ‘Leadership Skills’ for senior officers of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Government of India. The training program was conducted by the School of Business Environment at IICA.
The objective of the program was to drive excellence and develop leadership skills among the participants, focusing on important aspects of human behavior and cognition. The inaugural session of the program featured addresses by Shri Praveen Kumar, Director General & CEO of IICA, and Shri Manish Kumar, Joint Director General of DGCA. They emphasized the relevance of leadership training programs for government officials and corporate professionals, highlighting the importance of resilience, emotional intelligence, and empathy in leadership.
The training program included sessions conducted by renowned subject-matter experts, each focusing on different aspects of leadership, sustainability, and responsible governance. On the first day, Mr. Suneel Keswani emphasized the significance of lifelong learning for continuous improvement in leadership. The remaining two days featured sessions conducted by Ms. Deepa Bhatia, Ms. Neel Sodhi, Ms. Anshu Anand, and Dr. Jaideep Singh, covering topics such as effective communication, collaboration, team building, and stress management.
Dr. R.P. Kashyap, Director (Training) of DGCA, and Dr. Garima Dadhich, Associate Professor and Head of the School of Business Environment at IICA, highlighted the importance of the training program for senior officers of DGCA. They expressed their expectations that the program would act as a catalyst for the participants to become effective leaders, contributing to the development of the nation.
