The Ministry of Mines, in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, will be organizing the first Mining Start-up Summit in Mumbai on May 29, 2023. The summit will be inaugurated by Shri Pralhad Joshi, the Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Coal, and Mines, and the concluding session will be chaired by Shri Raosaheb Patil Danve, the Minister of State for Mines, Coal, and Railways. This unique summit aims to focus on innovation and techniques that can enhance the performance, safety, and autonomy in the field of mining and metallurgy.

India, with the third largest start-up ecosystem in the world, offers great potential for involving start-ups in addressing the challenges faced by the mining sector. The summit aims to simplify processes for the mining industry by leveraging new technologies in exploration and mining, thereby boosting mining and mineral production in the country.

During the event, the Ministry of Mines will engage with start-ups in the field of mining and metallurgy to explore how their technologies can contribute to the mining sector’s activities, enhance exploration and mining capabilities, and improve the efficiency of the mining industry.

The summit will also provide an opportunity for interaction between leading players in the mineral exploration sector, financial institutions, banks, as well as students and young professionals working in areas such as exploration, virtual reality, automation, drone technology, and consultancy. Over 120 start-ups and 20 major industries are expected to participate in this summit.

The Mining Start-up Summit will feature a state-of-the-art exhibition showcasing technological advancements in the mining sector, technical sessions, panel discussions with industry experts and academia, presentations by start-ups, and brainstorming sessions. It promises to be an important platform for fostering collaboration and innovation in the mining and metallurgy industry in India.
