Shri Girish Shankar IAS (BH 1982) presently posted as Secretary, Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs has been appointed as Secretary, Department of Heavy Industry, Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises for a period of three months or till appointment of a regular incumbent to that post or till further orders.

Shri Girish Shankar is B.Sc.(Hons) and has done his PG Diploma in Business Administration.

He started his Indian bureaucracy career in 1982 as S D O . In his vast service career, he has been Under Secretary -Transport(1986-86), Joint Secretary- Finance (1988-89),Collector & D M – Rohtas (1989-90), Deoghar (1990-91), Collector & D M Dy Secretary (1991-91), MD -Urban Development (1996-98), Commissioner -Darbhanga (1998-99) ,Secretary- Cabinet Affairs(1999-2000),Secretary -Relief & Rehabilitation Dept (1999-2000) ,Secretary-Cabinet Affairs(2000-02), Principal Secretary- Panchayati Raj (2010-11) to name a few.

He has served in central cadre as Joint Secretary- Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution (2011-12) , Additional Secretary-Ministry of Tourism (2012-15), Special Secretary – Ministry of Tourism (2015-15) and Secretary- Ministry of Home Affairs, Department of Official Language(2015-16).

    while congratulating u , i request u to kindly look into the our pathetic condition as retired employee of hmt machine tools ltd who is struggling to get his pension and GRATUITY amount which is his servival means of day to day expence. I retired in JAN 2016 after devoting my whole life since 1978 at the age of 19 YEARS
    Nither I was considered in 10% retension in needed employee after attaining age of 58 years nor i am granted with my GRATUITY and pension from EPFO till date due to late submission of my PAPERS to them from hmt by casual employees and their casual attitute in work .
    I TRUST u will kindly intervene and create an example of GOOD GOVERNESS IN INDIA in Public sector heavy industry under your control please this is my humble request
