Shri Deepak Meena IAS (Uttar Pradesh 2011), presently District Magistrate & Collector, Ghaziabad has been transferred as District Magistrate & Collector – Gorakhpur.
Shri Deepak Meena, an accomplished civil servant from the 2011 batch of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), has been appointed as the District Magistrate & Collector of Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. Prior to this, he served as District Magistrate & Collector of Ghaziabad, where his leadership was instrumental in driving high-impact governance, infrastructure development, and efficient public service delivery in one of the state’s most urbanized and strategic districts.
A technocrat by education, Shri Meena is a B.Tech. graduate in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur, graduating with First Division. His technical background and problem-solving approach have consistently translated into data-driven and innovative governance models during his administrative career.
Shri Meena began his IAS journey after completing foundational training at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussoorie. He took on various grassroots-level postings early in his career, which shaped his understanding of rural development and citizen-centric governance. His early assignments included serving as Assistant Collector in Aligarh and Azamgarh, where he was involved in land revenue and district administration.
He has held key positions as Chief Development Officer (CDO) in a series of important districts including Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Agra, Mainpuri, and Saharanpur. In each of these postings, he championed rural development initiatives, livelihood generation schemes, and public welfare projects. His tenure as CDO in Agra and Saharanpur was especially noted for effective inter-departmental coordination and the successful implementation of flagship government schemes.
From 2017 to 2019, Shri Meena served as District Magistrate of Shrawasti, where he focused on improving educational access, health services, and administrative transparency in one of the more remote districts of the state.
Most recently, he was entrusted with the leadership of Meerut district, serving as District Magistrate from April 2022 to December 2023, and continuing into 2024. His administration there was marked by active law and order management, public grievance redressal, and infrastructure push.
Now posted in Gorakhpur, a politically and administratively significant district, Shri Deepak Meena brings a wealth of experience, a sharp analytical mind, and a commitment to service delivery. His proactive approach is expected to further elevate the district’s governance standards and developmental progress.
