Shri Krishna Karunesh IAS (Uttar Pradesh 2011), presently District Magistrate & Collector, Gorakhpur has been transferred as Additional CEO – Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
Shri Krishna Karunesh, a seasoned officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) from the 2011 batch, has been appointed as Additional Chief Executive Officer (CEO), NOIDA, one of Uttar Pradesh’s most prominent and rapidly urbanizing industrial hubs. Prior to this, he served as the District Magistrate & Collector of Gorakhpur, where he was instrumental in ensuring effective governance, infrastructure development, and public service delivery in a politically and strategically significant district.
Shri Karunesh holds a B.A. (Honours) in Geography from Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribagh, where he graduated with First Division. He also possesses an LL.B. from the same university, and a Master’s degree in Public Policy from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi, where he again achieved First Division. This strong interdisciplinary academic foundation has enabled him to approach public administration with a balance of legal acumen, policy insight, and geographic understanding.
After completing his foundational training at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussoorie, Shri Karunesh began his field postings as Joint Magistrate in Kushinagar and Ghaziabad, gaining valuable grassroots experience in land revenue and district administration.
He later served as Chief Development Officer in Ghaziabad, where he focused on rural development, livelihood generation, and infrastructure in peripheral regions of the NCR. His leadership and effective coordination with various departments were widely acknowledged.
As District Magistrate in Hapur and Balrampur, and subsequently as Vice Chairman of the Ghaziabad Development Authority, Shri Karunesh played a vital role in urban planning, civic infrastructure improvement, and regulatory reform.
From June 2022 to 2023, and then continuing into 2024, he served as District Magistrate, Gorakhpur, where he handled high-level administrative responsibilities, especially in law and order, development projects, disaster management, and public welfare delivery.
With this wealth of experience across both urban and rural sectors, Shri Krishna Karunesh is now entrusted with the role of Additional CEO, NOIDA. His tenure is expected to bring focused leadership, effective policy execution, and citizen-centric innovation to one of India’s fastest-growing urban zones.
