Shri Parag Gupta, IAS (OR:88) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Food Processing Industries from the date of assumption of the charge of the post for a period of five years .
Shri Gupta is BA (Hons.) from St. Stephen’s College, New Delhi; joined Indian Administrative Service 1988, Odisha cadre. Started his career as Sub-Collector, Jajpur, later moved to Dhenkanal and Balasore. He also served as Collector, Dhenkanal, Labour Commissioner, Odisha, Managing Director, IPICOL. While on inter-cadre deputation to Uttarakhand, served as founding MD of State Industrial Development Corporation of Uttaranchal (SIDCUL), Secretary Cooperatives Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development. On return back to Odisha, he served as the first Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Public Private Partnership, Commissioner-cum-Secretary Labour and Employment Department, Tourism Department, Sports and Youth Services Department.
He had been elevated to the rank of Principal Secretary since 11.1.2013 and continuing as Principal Secretary to the Hon’ble Governor of Orissa. He had also been holding the Additional Charge of Department of Industries as its Principal Secretary and Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Industrial Development Corporation of Odisha Limited.
