Hardik Satishchandra Shah IAS empanelled as Joint Secretary
Shri Hardik Satishchandra Shah IAS (Gujarat 2010) has been empanelled as Joint Secretary at the Centre.
Shri Hardik Satishchandra Shah, IAS is a senior officer serving at the highest levels of the Government of India, with extensive experience in the Prime Minister’s Office and the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change.
Currently, he serves as Private Secretary to the Prime Minister (Director Equivalent) in the Prime Minister’s Office (June 10, 2024 – May 31, 2029). In this pivotal assignment, he assists the Prime Minister in policy coordination, governance monitoring, inter-ministerial communication, and high-level administrative decision-making.
Prior to this, Shri Shah served as Private Secretary to the Prime Minister (Deputy Secretary level) in the Prime Minister’s Office, New Delhi (August 17, 2020 – May 31, 2024). During this tenure, he played a crucial role in handling key governance matters, facilitating coordination between ministries, and supporting executive decision-making at the apex level.
Earlier, he was posted as Deputy Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office (September 4, 2019 – August 17, 2020), where he dealt with personnel and general administration matters, including Cabinet affairs and coordination responsibilities.
Before joining the PMO, Shri Shah served in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change in various capacities. He worked as:
- Private Secretary to the Minister (Director level) (June 21, 2019 – August 30, 2019)
- Private Secretary to the Minister (Director level) (May 29, 2017 – May 30, 2019)
- Private Secretary to the Minister of State (Independent Charge) (Director level) (January 16, 2017 – May 28, 2017)
In these roles, he assisted the political executive in environmental policy formulation, climate change negotiations, forestry governance, and inter-governmental coordination. His tenure coincided with significant policy discussions in sustainable development, biodiversity conservation, and climate commitments.
Across his central assignments, Shri Hardik Satishchandra Shah has developed strong expertise in high-level policy coordination, executive administration, and ministerial support functions. Serving in the Prime Minister’s Office over multiple tenures reflects a high degree of trust and administrative competence within the Indian Bureaucracy.
With continued responsibilities in the PMO at Director-equivalent rank, he remains actively engaged in strategic governance, policy oversight, and coordination at the highest executive level of the Government of India.
