The West Bengal government on Saturday transferred 13 IPS officers across senior field and specialised assignments, days after shifting 52 police officers earlier this week.
The latest order is being viewed as a high-level reshuffle involving officers of considerable seniority, including those from the 1998 and 1999 batches who have been interchanged at the Additional Director General level.
Key Inspector General and Deputy Inspector General posts across North Bengal, Bankura, Murshidabad, Jalpaiguri and Raiganj have also been rotated in a sequential chain. A lateral swap between the Western Zone and the Cyber Cell at the ADG rank, a reconfiguration of leadership in the CID and the Howrah Police Commissionerate, and the repositioning of battalion commandants in Barrackpore form part of the exercise.
With Assembly elections expected in March–April 2026, though official dates are yet to be announced, the latest round of transfers — spanning multiple tiers of command within days highlights the fluid nature of police administration in the State in the run-up to the polls.

- Shri Vishal Garg IPS (West Bengal 1999), presently ADG, Cyber Cell, West Bengal, has been transferred and posted as ADG & IGP, Western Zone.
- Shri Rajesh Kumar Yadav IPS (West Bengal 2002), presently IGP, North Bengal Region, has been transferred and posted as IGP, Bankura Range.
- Shri Sheesh Ram Jhajharia IPS (West Bengal 2005), presently IGP, Bankura Range, has been transferred and posted as IGP, Traffic, West Bengal.
- Shri Sukesh Kumar Jain IPS (West Bengal 2005), presently IGP, Traffic, West Bengal, has been transferred and posted as IGP, North Bengal Region.
- Shri Syed Waquar Raza IPS (West Bengal 2007), presently DIG, Murshidabad Range, has been transferred and posted as DIG, Jalpaiguri Range.
- Shri Sudheer Kumar Neelakantam IPS (West Bengal 2007), presently DIG, Raiganj Range, has been transferred and posted as DIG, Murshidabad Range.
- Shri Nimbalkar Santosh Uttamrao IPS (West Bengal 2009), presently DIG, Jalpaiguri Range, has been transferred and posted as DIG, Raiganj Range.
- Shri K Sabari Raj Kumar IPS (West Bengal 2010), presently Joint Commissioner of Police, Howrah Police Commissionerate, has been transferred and posted as DIG – CID, West Bengal.
- Shri Gaurav Lal IPS (West Bengal 2011), presently DIG, CID, West Bengal, has been transferred and posted as Joint Commissioner of Police, Howrah Police Commissionerate.
- Shri Praween Prakash IPS (West Bengal 2014), presently designated as Commanding Officer, SAP, 6th Battalion, has been transferred and posted as Commanding Officer, SSF Battalion, Barrackpore.
- Shri Sandeep Mondal IPS (West Bengal 2014), presently Commanding Officer, SAP 9th Battalion, has been transferred and posted as Commanding Officer, SAP 7th Battalion.
- Shri Shovan Adhikari WBPS (West Bengal), presently Additional Superintendent of Police, DIB, Baruipur Police District, has been transferred and posted as Additional Superintendent of Police, Telecommunication, West Bengal.
