Shri Vishal Garg IPS (West Bengal 1999), presently ADG- Cyber Cell, West Bengal, has been transferred and posted as ADG & IGP- Western Zone, West Bengal.
The Additional Director General (ADG) & Inspector General of Police (IGP) – Western Zone is a senior Indian Police Service officer entrusted with supervising policing operations across the western districts under the West Bengal Police. The Western Zone comprises several police ranges and districts, where the ADG & IGP ensures effective law enforcement, crime prevention, intelligence coordination, and maintenance of public order. The officer provides strategic leadership to Range DIGs and Superintendents of Police, monitors major investigations, and oversees deployment during elections, festivals, and sensitive situations. The role also involves coordination with state headquarters on policy implementation, modernization initiatives, and community policing programmes. Given the diverse socio-economic landscape of western West Bengal, including rural and semi-urban areas, the ADG & IGP – Western Zone plays a crucial role in maintaining stability, strengthening public confidence in policing, and ensuring prompt response to emerging law and order challenges across the region.
