Shri Vijay Kumar Mishra CPES (1991) presently Commissioner (JS Level), Coal Mines Provident Fund Organization (CMPFO), Ranchi under the Ministry of Coal has been given premature repatriation to his parent organization.
Shri Vijay Kumar Mishra is a distinguished officer from the 1991 batch of the Central Power Engineering Service (CPES), with a notable career in public administration and strategic governance. He currently holds the position of Commissioner (JS Level) at the Coal Mines Provident Fund Organization (CMPFO), Ranchi, under the Ministry of Coal, Government of India. Throughout his career, Shri Mishra has demonstrated expertise in policy-making, public service, and administrative leadership.
In April 2022, Shri Mishra took charge as the Commissioner of CMPFO, an autonomous body tasked with managing provident fund, pension, and insurance schemes for coal miners and their families. Under his leadership, CMPFO efficiently administered programs such as the Coal Mines Provident Fund Scheme, Coal Mines Deposit Linked Insurance Scheme, and Coal Mines Pension Scheme, serving over 337,000 provident fund subscribers and more than 610,000 pensioners as of December 2023. His role was critical in strengthening the financial health of CMPFO and expanding its services to provide essential welfare to coal workers.
Shri Mishra’s tenure at CMPFO concluded in April 2025, following a repatriation order from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, which marked the end of his term as Commissioner. During his time at the helm, he played a pivotal role in enhancing the administration of CMPFO’s key welfare schemes, ensuring that they continued to serve the needs of coal miners effectively and efficiently.
