Vice Admiral Narayan Prasad, AVSM, NM presently Vice Admiral, Navy, has been appointed for the post of Chairman & Managing Director, Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDSL) by Public Enterprises Selection Board( PESB).
In 1983, Vice Admiral Narayan Prasad was commissioned into the Indian Navy as an Engineering Officer and holds a masters degree in Mechanical Engineering and is also a M.Phil in Defence & Strategic Studies. An alumnus of Sainik School Tilaiya and NDA, he has held various important positions in the Indian Navy including operations, Staff, Dockyard and Strategic Projects. He served onboard frontline warships Talwar, Ranjit, Rana and also as the Fleet Engineer Officer of Eastern Fleet.
Prior to this appointment, Vice Admiral Narayan Prasad served as the Assistant Chief of Materiel (Nuclear Systems Maintenance) at Integrated Headquarters, Ministry of Defence (Navy) at New Delhi. Admiral Superintendent of Naval Dockyard Visakhapatnam; and Chief Staff Officer (Technical), ENC. He has been awarded Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and Nausena Medal for his distinguished services to the nation.
