Shri Vamsi Rama Mohan Burra presently Functional Director (Projects), POWERGRID, Power Grid Corporation of India Limited has been selected as Chairman & Managing Director, Power Grid Corporation of India Limited.
The Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited is the chief executive responsible for overall leadership, strategic direction, and operational performance. The CMD oversees planning, development, and maintenance of the national transmission network, ensuring reliable and efficient power flow across India. The role involves policy implementation, regulatory coordination, and stakeholder engagement with the Ministry of Power and other agencies. Shri Burra Vamsi Rama Mohan is a seasoned professional with over three decades of extensive experience in the power and telecom sectors. An engineering graduate with a Postgraduate Diploma in Management, he has consistently demonstrated strong leadership and strategic acumen throughout his career. He has further strengthened his managerial capabilities by completing the Harvard ManageMentor (HMM) Program and undertaking executive courses at the Indian School of Business.
Shri Vamsi has held several key positions at Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), where he served as Chief Operating Officer (Telecom) and Officer on Special Duty (Projects). In these roles, he played a crucial part in driving large-scale project execution and enhancing operational efficiency. His leadership was particularly evident during his tenure as CEO of POWERGRID Teleservices Limited, where he spearheaded the expansion of the company’s telecom business. Under his guidance, the organization also initiated work on its first Data Centre, marking a significant step toward digital infrastructure development.
Known for his expertise in project implementation and procurement management, Shri Vamsi has contributed significantly to strengthening POWERGRID’s operational framework. His in-depth understanding of the regulatory landscape of the power sector enabled him to become a founding member of the company’s Regulatory Cell, which plays a vital role in policy and compliance matters.
