The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) had invited stakeholders to provide comments and counter-comments on its Consultation Paper titled “Digital Transformation through 5G Ecosystem,” which was released on September 29, 2023. Initially, the deadlines for submitting written comments and counter-comments from stakeholders were set for October 30, 2023, and November 13, 2023, respectively.
However, TRAI received requests from Industry Associations seeking an extension of the submission deadline due to various reasons, including difficulties related to data collection during festival periods. These organizations emphasized that the consultation paper addresses critical issues concerning policy challenges and the appropriate policy framework for the accelerated adoption and effective utilization of new technologies. As a result, they required additional time for internal discussions and deliberations before providing a response.
In response to these requests, TRAI has decided to extend the deadline for submitting written comments to November 27, 2023, and for counter-comments to December 11, 2023.
