On Wednesday, March 13, 2024, the Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, will inaugurate the new office building for three Multi State Cooperative Societies – Bhartiya Beej Sahakari Samiti Limited (BBSSL), National Cooperative Organics Limited (NCOL), and National Cooperative Export Limited (NCEL) at World Trade Centre, Naoroji Nagar, New Delhi.

This inauguration marks another significant stride in the Ministry of Cooperation’s pursuit of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of “Sahakar se Samriddhi.” For quite some time, there has been a pressing need for a separate office building for these three societies, and now, with this dedicated facility, they will be able to function seamlessly.

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Government approved the establishment of three national level Multi-state Cooperative Societies for exports, organic produce, and seeds. These societies have been registered under the Multi-State Cooperative Societies Act, 2002, and cooperative societies of all levels interested in their specified activities are eligible to become members, from Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) to Apex Cooperative Societies (APACS).

NCEL has been established to promote exports from the cooperative sector. It aims to undertake direct export of goods and services of cooperatives, increase linkages among cooperatives, and generate employment. NCOL is focused on realizing the potential of organic products and creating a healthy agriculture ecosystem. It will support the production and marketing of authentic organic products by cooperatives. BBSSL deals with seed research, production, processing, and marketing, aiming to enhance seed production and reduce dependence on imported seeds.

These societies will uplift people associated with agriculture, procure agricultural produce and seeds from farmers via PACS, and ensure that profits go directly to farmers’ accounts, thus preventing leakages.

The inauguration of separate office buildings for BBSSL, NCOL, and NCEL marks a milestone in the cooperative sector. It will facilitate smooth functioning of these societies, ultimately contributing to farmers’ income and realizing Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of “Sahakar se Samriddhi.”

The event will be attended by Secretaries and senior officers from related Central Ministries/Departments, officials from the newly formed organizations, officials from related organizations such as APEDA and FSSAI, officials from Foreign Embassies in India, officials from the promoters of the three societies, and officials and delegates from National Cooperative Federations across the country.
