Supreme Court asks CBSE to declare results of NEET 2017

The Supreme Court asked the Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE, to declare the results of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, NEET, 2017 for admission to MBBS and BDS courses. The apex court stayed the Madras High Court order restraining publication of the results. It directed authorities to proceed further with declaration of result and subsequent admission as per schedule fixed by it earlier.

A vacation bench of apex court, however, said declaration of results as well as the subsequent counselling and admission will be subject to its decision on the matter pending before it. It listed the matter for further proceedings after summer vacation.

The Supreme court also asked High Courts not to entertain petitions on matters relating to the examination. The top court’s order comes as a relief for 12 lakh medical aspirants who had given the exam.

The order came on the plea by CBSE and others challenging the 24th May order of the Madras High Court which had restrained the Board from publishing the results of after a batch of pleas alleged that a uniform question paper was not given in the examination and there was a vast difference between the ones in English and in Tamil.

The CBSE had on 9th June moved the Supreme Court seeking an immediate stay on the Madras High Court order.
