Shri Subhasis Sengupta presently Chief General Manager – (Projects), DSP, Steel Authority Of India Limited (Sail) has been selected as Director (Operations), Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL).
Shri Subhasis Sengupta has over three decades of extensive experience in India’s steel sector, primarily with Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL). Currently serving as Chief General Manager (Projects) at the Durgapur Steel Plant, he oversees major project execution, modernization initiatives, and strategic infrastructure development within the organization.
Prior to this role, he served as Chief General Manager (Works), SGW at SAIL Growth Works from 2022 to 2025, where he was responsible for operational management, production efficiency, and plant performance. During his tenure, he also held the additional charge of Executive Director (Growth Division) for multiple periods, contributing to expansion planning and growth strategies for SAIL’s specialized engineering and manufacturing operations.
Earlier in his career, he held several senior technical and managerial roles at Durgapur, including General Manager (Blast Furnace – Maintenance), Deputy General Manager (Shops), and Deputy General Manager (Central Engineering Maintenance). In these positions, he led maintenance modernization, equipment reliability programs, and operational improvements across key production units. His earlier responsibilities also included roles as Assistant General Manager and Senior Manager in Central Engineering Maintenance, and leadership positions in the Machine Shop division.
Shri Subhasis Sengupta began his professional journey as a Graduate Engineer Trainee with Reliance Industries Limited in 1991 before joining SAIL in 1992 as a Junior Engineer (Central Engineering Maintenance). Over the years, he has built deep expertise in steel plant operations, engineering maintenance, and industrial project management.
Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) is a major public sector enterprise under the Government of India and operates the renowned Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.
