Shri Sheesh Ram Jhajharia IPS (West Bengal 2005), presently IGP- Bankura Range, has been transferred and posted as IGP- Traffic, West Bengal.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) – Traffic, West Bengal, is a senior Indian Police Service officer responsible for overseeing and managing all traffic-related operations across the state under the West Bengal Police. This role involves formulating and implementing traffic management strategies, coordinating enforcement of road safety regulations, and streamlining vehicular movement across major urban centres and highways to reduce congestion and accidents.

The IGP-Traffic supervises traffic police units in districts and cities, drives awareness campaigns on road safety, and works with transport authorities to improve infrastructure and regulatory compliance. In addition, the officer monitors data on traffic violations and road incidents to advise on policy interventions and technology adoption—such as automatic traffic enforcement systems—to enhance overall road discipline. By ensuring efficient traffic flow and prioritising citizen safety, the IGP-Traffic plays a critical role in supporting urban mobility and safeguarding commuters throughout West Bengal.
