His engineering education has equipped him with analytical rigor and systems-thinking capabilities, which have been reflected in his governance and technology-driven administrative roles.

Currently, Shri Nair serves as Private Secretary to the Minister (Director level) in the Ministry of Education, Government of India (July 11, 2024 – July 10, 2029). In this central assignment in New Delhi, he supports the Minister in policy coordination, inter-departmental communication, and oversight of key educational initiatives at the national level. Earlier, Shri Nair worked as Director in the Department of Panchayat & Rural Development, Commissionerate of Rural Development, Chennai (June 17, 2021 – May 31, 2022), where he contributed to rural infrastructure development and drinking water supply programs. He also served as District Collector of Nagapattinam (September 25, 2019 – June 16, 2021), overseeing land revenue administration, disaster response management, public welfare implementation, and district-level development coordination. His tenure as District Collector involved direct engagement with communities and frontline governance challenges.

Between June 2017 and September 2019, he held the position of Managing Director of the State Rural Livelihood Mission under the Department of Rural Development, Ministry of Rural Development, and concurrently as Managing Director of the Tamil Nadu Corporation for Development of Women Ltd. In these roles, he focused on women’s empowerment, livelihood promotion, and self-help group strengthening initiatives, contributing to inclusive rural development strategies.

Shri Nair has also served as Regional Deputy Commissioner (Central) in the Chennai Corporation under the Municipal Administration & Water Supply Department (January 14, 2016 – June 2, 2017), handling urban governance and municipal administration responsibilities. Prior to that, he was Deputy Secretary in the Municipal Administration & Water Supply Department (November 24, 2014 – January 13, 2016), where he worked on policy and administrative matters relating to urban local bodies.

He began his field administration career as Sub Collector in Hosur (September 3, 2012 – November 20, 2014), gaining foundational experience in sub-divisional administration, land revenue management, and local governance.

Throughout his career, Shri Praveen P.
