Following this approval, the Department of Revenue has issued an order dated 8 December 2025 placing his services at the disposal of EAC-PM, for a period ofone-year. The Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM) is a periodically reconstituted, non-constitutional advisory body that provides independent economic analysis, research support, and policy recommendations directly to the Prime Minister. Set up originally in 2004 and revived in its present form in 2017, the Council functions as a high-level think tank that examines macroeconomic trends, growth strategy, labour markets, fiscal and external-sector issues, and sector-specific challenges. It is presently chaired by economist Shri Bibek Debroy and includes full-time and part-time members, domain experts, young professionals, and consultants.
The EAC-PM produces analytical studies—such as employment assessments, inequality reports, and long-term growth evaluations—and often works with ministries on specialised research projects. Officers from services like the IAS, IRS, and IFS are attached to the Council to support taxation analysis, data-driven research, inter-ministerial coordination, and regulatory assessments.
