Shri Satish Kumar Sinha is a highly accomplished finance professional with an extensive career spanning over three decades in the oil and gas sector, currently serving as Executive Director (Finance & Accounts) at GAIL (India) Limited. His professional journey reflects a rare combination of domain expertise, institutional knowledge, and steady leadership in one of India’s leading Maharatna Public Sector Undertakings.
An alumnus of Bokaro Steel City College, Shri Sinha holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree with a specialization in Accounting and Finance. He further enhanced his professional credentials by qualifying as a Cost and Management Accountant from the Institute of Cost Accountants of India. This strong academic and professional foundation has enabled him to navigate complex financial environments with clarity and precision.
Shri Sinha joined GAIL in November 1994 as a Management Trainee (Finance & Accounts) at Vijaipur in Madhya Pradesh. From the outset, he demonstrated a keen understanding of financial systems and operational dynamics. Over the years, he progressed through a series of roles including Finance and Accounts Officer, Deputy Manager, Manager, Senior Manager, and Chief Manager, steadily building expertise across various aspects of finance.
His career trajectory continued upward as he assumed leadership roles such as Deputy General Manager, General Manager, and Chief General Manager, before being elevated to Executive Director (F&A) in February 2025. Across these roles, Shri Sinha has handled a wide spectrum of finance functions including corporate finance, corporate accounts, management accounting, costing, taxation, treasury, and banking operations. His experience also encompasses budgeting, project evaluation, financial concurrence, and strategic financial planning.
A distinctive feature of Shri Sinha’s career has been his involvement in high-level strategic initiatives. He has contributed significantly to business development activities, mergers and acquisitions, and the formulation of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), which are critical to performance benchmarking in public sector enterprises. His ability to align financial management with organizational strategy has been a key strength.
Shri Sinha has also played an important role in strengthening investor relations at GAIL. He has been actively engaged in interactions with the analyst community, contributing to transparent financial communication and enhancing stakeholder confidence. Another notable contribution has been his role in the implementation of SAP ERP systems at GAIL. Beyond his core responsibilities, Shri Sinha has also gained valuable experience in corporate governance through his association with group companies. He is currently serving as Director at GAIL Mangalore Petrochemicals Limited (GMPL), where he contributes to strategic oversight and financial governance. He has also previously served on the board of GAIL Global Singapore Pte Limited, providing him with exposure to international operations and global business environments.
His long tenure across different locations, including Vijaipur, Noida, and New Delhi, has given him a comprehensive perspective of both field-level operations and corporate functions.
