Ravindra Kumar Tyagi joins as Director General – Power Foundation of India
Dr. Ravindra Kumar Tyagi has joined Power Foundation of India as Director General on May 27, 2026. With over 35 years of distinguished experience in the power sector, Dr. Tyagi brings deep expertise across power systems, transmission, asset management, engineering, business development, telecom, load dispatch, safety, and grid operations. Prior to this role, he superannuated as Chairman & Managing Director of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited and also served as Director (Operations) and Executive Director (North-Eastern Region).
An Electrical Engineer from Punjab Engineering College, with an M.Tech in Energy Studies from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, Dr. Tyagi is also a Fulbright Scholar from Carnegie Mellon University. A respected thought leader in the global power ecosystem, he has represented India in several international technical committees, authored over 50 technical papers, and contributed significantly to the development of global technical standards in transmission systems. His achievements include the prestigious 1906 Award for exceptional contribution towards IEC standards development and recognition from CIGRE as a Distinguished Member. His leadership and vast experience are expected to further strengthen initiatives towards innovation, collaboration, and sustainable growth in India’s power sector.
