The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the empanelment of 68 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers for holding the post of Inspector General (IG) or Equivalent at the Centre. The empanelment includes officers from the 2001, 2003, 2004, 2007 and 2008 batches representing a wide cross-section of State cadres and the AGMUT cadre. The move is a significant step in strengthening the leadership pool for senior positions in the Government of India and marks an important milestone in the professional careers of these officers.

The empanelment enables these officers to be considered for appointment as Inspector General or equivalent in various Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), Central Police Organisations (CPOs), investigative agencies and other Central Government departments, depending upon vacancies and administrative requirements. The selection reflects their experience, service record and suitability for senior leadership assignments at the national level.
According to the Ministry of Home Affairs order, the names of the empanelled officers are not arranged as per their inter-se seniority.
