Rajesh Kumar IPS extension as ADG – Central Reserve Police Force

Shri Rajesh Kumar IPS (AGMUT 1995) presently Additional Director General- Central Reserve Police Force has been given extension of deputation tenure for a period of one year beyond 18.03.2026 by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.

The position of Additional Director General (ADG) in the Central Reserve Police Force is among the highest leadership roles within India’s largest central armed police force, entrusted with significant operational, administrative, and strategic responsibilities. Officers at this level play a critical role in shaping the force’s approach to internal security, counter-insurgency, and law and order management across diverse and often challenging terrains.

An ADG in CRPF typically oversees large zones, sectors, or specialized divisions, ensuring operational preparedness and effective deployment of personnel. The role involves supervising counter-insurgency operations in Left Wing Extremism-affected areas, coordinating anti-terror efforts, and managing security arrangements during elections and major national events. Given the scale and complexity of CRPF operations, the ADG is required to maintain close coordination with state police forces, intelligence agencies, and other central armed police forces.

In addition to operational duties, the ADG is responsible for policy implementation, training standards, logistics management, and modernization initiatives within the force. Ensuring personnel welfare, discipline, and morale is also a key aspect of the role, given the demanding nature of CRPF assignments.

The position demands exceptional leadership, strategic vision, and the ability to make critical decisions under pressure. Widely respected in Indian Bureaucracy and security circles, the Additional Director General, CRPF, plays a vital role in maintaining internal security, upholding public order, and strengthening the nation’s security framework.

Indian Bureaucracy News wishes Shri Rajesh Kumar the very best.
